50th anniversary of The March on Washington Street

1. The purpose of the march on Washington was to have a nonviolent protest about segregate and also to have equality. Political and social injustice. Desegregating schools, jobs, and to pass the civil rights bill, also housing.
2. The purpose was to abolish segregation so that not only his children but all colored children can go to school with white children and be able to go into any place a white person can go. I think it also said people should be treated equally.
3. The march on Washington was 2 of the most talked about in the civil rights era because it was the biggest march and also because it made a hug impact in history; colored and white people having all the same rights. People united and came together to make a difference. It was nonviolent.
4. Not only were there colored people in the movement but there was also some white people who believed that we all have equal rights and they saw that treating colored different than the white people wasn't humane. They wanted to fight for what was right. They wanted to see something change.
5. One thing I would tell people is to go out and mix with different cultures. Because that's what we tend to do; Latinos hang out with Latinos, white people hang out with other white people, etc. I guess to stop segregating in cliques.we need people to lead. Also about immigration and gay rights, the gun control. S throng speech and also hope. Something that's affecting us.
6. There recently was a huge march before the court about letting homosexuals marry in California. That march was huge because the Golden Gate Bridge had to be closed for a while. And they ended up winning the trial. The dream act gave kids a social security number so that they were able to go to college. It also them an opportunity to get a job. They're motivated about something they're passionate about.

Video notes :

They thought that being violentnshowed everyone else their weakness. So instead they peacefully marched to show that they are stronger than using violence against other people. People were being hosed to the wall with high pressured firehoses and dogs biting innocent people.

On 130th street and Harlem in Washington.whitenpeople were working with colored people to set up the march and have transportation for everyone to get to Washington. They made sure all the signs were right. People kept coming in to the Lincoln memorial. Everyone was curious about what Martin Luther king jr was going to say. He stopped reading his script and started saying his dream. The image he gave was freedom.

Project Review

I thought that I could have done a better job at explaining all the people. Add more information to the captions. My group worked well together and we had no problems at all. One issue that should be addressed in our community is that there is still some segregation at school. There's not really any mix of cultures here at MA. The kids on the green are all white and when you try to have a conversation with them they just look at you weirdly. That's one issue I'd like to change. Also stoping the stereotype that all Mexicans are immigrants or they're poor. Give money to poor school that are not high leveled schools. Those schools need more resources.

Senior week #1

This weekend I'm going to go finish doing some last minute school supply shopping. I'm also going to apply for jobs because it is time that I learn to be responsible and get more experience  working. I plan on applying at Smart N Final. A famous person that I find interesting is Muhammad Ali for giving wise and amazing advice. Also Eleanor Roosevelt helped create the universal declaration of human rights. She was one of the most loved woman on the 20th century!

Social justice

Social justice is when everyone has the same rights. In the video I saw two pictures of famous people that I recognized. I saw Martin Luther king jr. Jacky Robinson and i also saw Obama. Martin Luther king jr. Was a civil rights activist and he helped stop segregation. Obama was the first ever African American president in the United States of America. And jacky robinson was the first african american baseball player to play on a major league. Things they have in common is at they're all African American and also made white people change their minds about the stereotypes. They all also spoke their minds and made a difference.

All about me

All About Me

My name is Stephanie Valencia. I'm 17 years old and I'm a senior here at Menlo Atherton high school! I have 5sisters, 2 brothers. I'm on of the oldest sisters. I also have 3 dogs. My strongest personality traits are that I'm a really nice person and I care about everyone. I'm a social person, I like meeting new people all the time! Outside of school I walk my dog, go out with friends and family, and I'm starting to go to the gym. I enjoy spending time with my family from Mexico when they come visit or I even text then. But I enjoy this because they are the only family I trust and they know how to give out good advice. I also enjoy playing soccer. Some goals I have set for this year is to be more social and make new friends. Also to focus on school and not let anything get in my way. I want to be able to have 3.0 grade point average. I will accomplish these goals by not being shy. Also I will do all my work and homework and study hard for tests! Personal goals is to loose weight and also to stay out of childish drama. I'm going to start going to the gym at least 4 times a week and eat healthy. I'm more of a visual learner. It's easier for me to remember things by seeing an image. You can help me achieve these goals by being supportive and by answering all my questions. Other than that, I look forward to this school year!

Back to school!

I washed my face today when I woke up and got ready. I came prepared with a notebook and pencils. I'm excited because I'm finally a senior!! I'm going to make this the best year ever! Some things I'd like to accomplish this year is trying to come everyday and being early. I'd also like to focus more on school and no more drama. Lastly I want to be more mature.
